Topic: Reducing Waste From Corporate Farming

Come join us at the International Dairy Federation (IDF)! This committee was established in 1903 in Brussels, Belgium, and continues to hold to its original vision of addressing the challenges and opportunities within the global dairy industry. In addition, the IDF works in multiple different sectors, such as animal health and welfare, dairy science and technology, the environment, farm management, and food quality standards. During this iteration of WAIMUN 2023, the IDF will address the critical issue of reducing waste from corporate farming. Corporate farming plays a pivotal role in global dairy production, contributing significantly to the economy. However, dairy production results in the generation of a lot of waste, which negatively impacts the environment. During this time, delegates will collaborate on solutions with a main goal of reducing farming waste.

  • Caleb Li

    DIRECTOR

Caleb Li is a junior at Newport High School and is ecstatic to serve as the Director of the International Dairy Federation at WAIMUN 2023! Although starting off as a nervous delegate who was peer-pressured into giving a fifteen-second speech at his first conference, Caleb’s passion only grew with each additional conference. Now entering his third year of MUN, he has met tons of incredible people and made countless memories which he will forever cherish. Outside of MUN, Caleb can be found spending too much time watching movies, making playlists for every situation, and watching food videos on YouTube. He can’t wait to meet all the delegates and is confident WAIMUN will be an amazing weekend!

  • Lorenzo Beltran

    CHAIR

Enzo Beltran is a sophomore at Bellarmine Preparatory School and is elated to serve as the Chair of the International Dairy Foundation. He joined the world of Model UN after watching the hit Netflix show Never Have I Ever and being peer pressured by his friends. While at first he only liked the thought of traveling around and meeting new people, he immediately fell in love with the debate and chaos that each committee session brought. With each conference, he was able to develop his leadership skills, make new friends, and enrich his global awareness. Outside the world of Model UN, Enzo enjoys baking chocolate macarons, learning and playing songs on the piano, and listening to music on Spotify. He is also training to become a certified SCUBA diver. Ultimately, Enzo hopes all delegates enjoy their time at WAIMUN 2023 and leave with an enhanced worldview and new friends!

  • Anoushka Vyas

    ASSISTANT-DIRECTOR

Anoushka Vyas is a sophomore at Inglemoor High School and is thrilled to be the Assistant Director for the International Dairy Federation for WAIMUN 2023! After being bribed to join MUN as a freshman at PACMUN, Anoushka barely knew how to write a resolution or why ChairMUN never worked. Despite this, Anoushka eventually grew passionate about the world of complex position papers and nuanced debate. Outside of Model UN, Anoushka can be found out on the water coxing for her crew team, blasting her eardrums out with her piccolo or trumpet, and creating extremely curated Spotify playlists that seem to contain a suspicious amount of Laufey (She did not get tickets to the concert and is very unhappy about it). She is so excited to meet everyone at IDF and can’t wait to uncover the secrets of the dairy industry with delegates!
